Jamie Berry, Managing Director – Litigation Services, Integreon
Jamie Berry is Managing Director of Litigation Services for Integreon, a global provider of legal, document and business solutions. Jamie leads Integreon’s data, analytics and client services teams and spearheads the creation of comprehensive solutions to address clients’ litigation needs. He has nearly 20 years of legal experience, working with corporate legal and global law firm clients to develop and implement custom, integrated strategies and solutions for e-discovery and information management during complex litigation and investigations.
Most recently, he was a senior vice president at UnitedLex Corporation and previously served as a managing director at Huron Consulting Group. Prior to that, Berry directed litigation consulting services at Thomson Reuters, which was later acquired by Navigant Consulting. Initially, after graduating from law school, Berry was the litigation support manager for DLA Piper.
Berry received his B.A. from Marquette University and his J.D. from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, where he is currently an adjunct professor.
Susie Bokermann, Assistant Managing Editor, Bloomberg Law
Susie Bokermann is an assistant managing editor in the Corporate, Tech, and IP division at Bloomberg Law. She develops legal reference content, analytics, and practical guidance tools across a variety of corporate and transactional topics including corporate governance, corporate compliance, corporate legal departments, and securities enforcement. She also serves as an editorial and business liaison for Bloomberg Law clients on the west coast, providing resources to support customer-facing teams and helping to build and manage a broader set of relationships in the IP, technology, and telecom legal spaces.
Theodore Borromeo, Assistant General Counsel, Employment and Benefits Law, McKesson Corporation
Ted Borromeo leads the employment and benefits law group at McKesson Corporation, a Fortune 5 drug distribution and healthcare technology solutions company with a global workforce of 75,000 and revenue of $199B. Ted over 30 years of employment and labor law experience representing employers, almost all in-house at Fortune 200 companies in distinct industries. In 2009 he was inducted as a Fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, one of three California in-house employment attorneys in the College.
Prior to McKesson, Ted was the Vice President of Employment and Benefits Law at Sun Microsystems, Inc., where he managed a global team of attorneys, and was recognized with the company’s corporate Leadership Award for innovation, integrity, courage, pace and collaboration. Earlier in his career Ted was Labor and Employment Counsel at Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation, and Labor Counsel at Lockheed Missiles & Space Company. Ted received his law degree from U.C. Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law, and his undergraduate degree magna cum laude from San Francisco State University.
Ted is active in professional and social service organizations: as the first in-house Chair of the Executive Committee of the Labor and Employment Section of the Bar Association of San Francisco; as co-chair of the Labor and Employment Committee of the San Francisco chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel; and as a Board and HR Committee member of Catholic Services CYO for San Francisco, Marin and San Mateo. Alex Butler was named Vice President and General Manager of Corporate, Tech & IP in Bloomberg BNA’s Legal Division in October 2015.
In this position, he is responsible for the commercial strategy, growth, and development of content and solutions exploring the intersections of technology, law, and commerce for professionals in the legal and business communities.
Prior to joining Bloomberg BNA, Butler served on the leadership teams of international service providers delivering growth strategies through improved innovation and IP management to corporate executives and investors. Before that, he served in senior positions within Thomson Reuters’ IP business and Information Holdings Inc.’s IP management division.
Butler has a B.A. from the School of International Service of The American University in Washington, D.C., and an MBA from Villanova University.

Chang reports on global technology and media companies and the startups that may become them. She regularly speaks to top tech executives, investors and entrepreneurs, including Apple CEO Tim Cook, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg, Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt, Twitter Co-Founder Jack Dorsey, Disney CEO Bob Iger, and Alibaba Founder and Executive Chairman Jack Ma. James Dempsey, Executive Director, Berkeley Center for Law & Technology
Jim Dempsey is Executive Director of the Berkeley Center for Law & Technology at the UC Berkeley law school, where he teaches a course in cybersecurity law and policy. From 1997 to 2014, he was at the Center for Democracy & Technology, where he held a number of leadership positions, including Executive Director. From 2012 through 2016, Jim served as a Senate-confirmed part-time member of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board (PCLOB), an independent federal agency charged with advising senior policymakers and overseeing the nation’s counterterrorism programs. Prior positions include Deputy Director of the non-profit Center for National Security Studies and Assistant Counsel to the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Civil and Constitutional Rights. Jim is co-author of Terrorism & the Constitution (New Press, Third edition, 2006) (with David Cole) and co-editor (with Fred Cate) of Bulk Collection: Systematic Government Access to Private-Sector Data (Oxford 2017).
Michelle Dennedy, Vice President and Chief Privacy Officer, Cisco
Michelle Finneran Dennedy is Vice President and Chief Privacy Officer at Cisco, where she works to raise awareness and create tools that promote privacy, quality, respect, trust, and asset-level possibilities for data. She is a unique visionary in the field of privacy and the IT industry, bringing together multifaceted approaches that provide sincere privacy protections and drive business value.
Throughout her career, Dennedy has led security and privacy initiatives, ranging from regulatory compliance, privacy engineering, advocacy and education efforts, and litigation at companies including Cisco, and previously McAfee/Intel Security, Oracle, and Sun Microsystems. She foundedThe iDennedy Project, which seeks to change how people think about information and data, and co-authored The Privacy Engineer’s Manifesto: Getting from Policy to Code to QA to Value.
Dennedy is a highly sought-after public speaker who sits on the boards of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Northern California. She has been honored with many industry awards including California’s Most Powerful and Influential Women, by the National Diversity Council; the IAPP Vanguard Award; Woman of Influence for Security and Privacy, from the Executive Women’s Forum (EWF) and CSO Magazine; and most recently Woman of the Year in Technology and Transformation, by the Stevie American Business Awards.
Dennedy has a Doctorate of Law degree from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical, Counseling and Applied Psychology and Economics from The Ohio State University.
Alex Feerst, Head of Legal, Medium
Alex Feerst is Head of Legal at Medium, where his work includes setting and enforcing policies related to content and intellectual property. Before joining Medium, he practiced at Durie Tangri, representing clients including Twitter and Wikimedia. His copyright cases include three heard at the Supreme Court — representing streaming service Aereo, conductor Lawrence Golan, and bookseller Supap Kirtsaeng.
He holds a BA and JD from Columbia and a PhD in English literature from Duke. He’s a non-resident fellow at Stanford University’s Center for Internet & Society, a board member of the ABA Intellectual Property Law Section’s CLE Committee, and an officer of the San Francisco Intellectual Property Law Association.
Conor French, General Counsel, U.S., Funding Circle

Conor previously served as CEO of Indego Africa, a social enterprise and lifestyle brand that supports artisan women through economic empowerment and education. He began his career practicing law at Latham & Watkins, where he was a member of the firm’s corporate department.
Conor helped found the Marketplace Lending Association (supporting responsible financial innovation and access to capital for small businesses and consumers) and the Responsible Business Lending Coalition (driving best practices in small business lending and which authored the Small Business Borrowers’ Bill of Rights), and serves on the governing body of each. He previously helped found the Alliance for Artisan Enterprise (supporting the global artisan sector through public-private partnership). Conor is a Truman National Security Fellow, chairs the advisory board of Indego Africa and serves on the financial institutions committee of the CA bar. He was recently selected as a 2018 Presidential Leadership Scholar and recognized as 2017 Bay Area Corporate Counsel of the Year.

Dr. Michael Gelles, Managing Director, Deloitte Consulting LLP
Dr. Michael is a director with Deloitte Consulting LLP Federal practice, consulting in the areas of law enforcement, intelligence, and security. Mike is a thought leader and widely published author on critical national security issues to include, insider threat, security processing, secure workforce, asset loss, exploitation, sabotage, and workplace violence. Previously, Mike served as a naval officer and the chief psychologist for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
Darby Green, Commercial Director, Litigation and Bankruptcy, Bloomberg Law
Darby Green is the Commercial Director for Litigation and Bankruptcy at Bloomberg Law. In this role, she is responsible for product development and go-to-market strategies focused on the business intelligence and legal research needs of litigators and bankruptcy professionals. Darby is the Chair of the Bloomberg Law Litigation Innovation Board, a group of twenty top litigators who provide input and consultation on product offerings. She also spearheaded the creation and launch of Bloomberg Law Litigation Analytics, a tool that enables users to search millions of legal data points by company, law firm, or judge; and Points of Law, a solution that applies machine learning to court opinions in order to highlight language critical to a court’s holding and link this language to governing statements of law and relevant on-point case law. Darby has been working on Bloomberg Law since 2009, prior to which she practiced as a commercial litigator in New York. She has an A.B. from Dartmouth College and a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School.
Lisa C. Hamasaki, Partner, Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C.
Lisa has extensive experience defending and advising companies with regard to all aspects of California employment law.
She takes a highly strategic and thorough approach to defending clients in employment litigation and has led the defense of many employment lawsuits across numerous industries. Her high percentage of summary judgement wins speaks to both her skill and experience. In addition to her litigation practice, Lisa provides advice and counsel to clients on all aspects of California employment law, has significant experience drafting and revising employment policies and handbooks, and has worked to develop and provide employee training on a number of employment related topics. Marie Oh Huber, SVP of Legal Affairs, General Counsel & Secretary at eBay, heads the global legal and government relations function for the company. She and her team partner with the businesses to drive the purpose and success of eBay and its buyers and sellers. Her responsibilities include overseeing the company’s global legal department, risk management program, and its policy group. She has 25 years of strategic business and legal experience in global Fortune 500 companies and an extensive track record as a business leader. She has a B.A. in Economics cum laude from Yale, studied at the London School of Economics and received her J.D. from the Northwestern University School of Law.
Whitney Hudak, Corporate and Commercial Counsel, Lyft, Inc.
Whitney Hudak is Corporate & Commercial Counsel for the San Francisco based ridesharing app, Lyft. Whitney manages the company’s domestic and international trademark portfolio and is the lead attorney for the brand, marketing and entertainment teams at Lyft. In her role, she devotes much of her focus toward trademark protection and enforcement along with developing global strategy consistent with company growth. Whitney advises on a wide range of aspects related to brand promotion, including brand campaigns, product and services advertising claims, offers and promotions, and working with celebrities and influencers. In addition, Whitney negotiates and provides strategic counsel for commercial transactions, including partnership deals, promotional agreements, licensing deals, marketing agreements, and product integrations. As the second attorney hired by Lyft in 2013, Whitney and the company’s General Counsel handled all commercial, corporate, litigation, regulatory and compliance work for the company. During her first year with Lyft, Whitney oversaw all regulatory filings and compliance both in the state of California and across the U.S., negotiated commercial agreements, worked with the Government Relations team on emerging markets, and oversaw Lyft’s litigation caseload, managing outside counsel on numerous matters, including labor and employment cases and personal injury matters. Prior to joining Lyft, Whitney was an associate at the Labor and Employment firm, Righetti Glugoski. Whitney was also an Assistant District Attorney with the Marin County District Attorney’s office.
Joshua A. Jessen, Partner, Gibson, Dunn, & Crutcher
Joshua Jessen is a partner in Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher’s Orange County and Palo Alto offices. He is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department and practices in the Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Consumer Protection Group. Mr. Jessen’s practice focuses on data privacy and cybersecurity, consumer law and class actions, complex commercial litigation, and intellectual property litigation. He has represented many companies in putative data privacy and data security class actions, and has been instrumental in obtaining dismissals or other successful resolutions of those actions. Mr. Jessen also has represented a wide array of clients in high-stakes patent, copyright, trademark, and right-of-publicity litigation. In addition, he was involved in the defense of a significant white collar criminal matter relating to alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
Mr. Jessen earned his law degree magna cum laude in 2002 from the University of San Diego School of Law, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and Lead Articles Editor of the San Diego Law Review. While attending law school, he served as a judicial extern for U.S. Magistrate Judge James Stiven. Mr. Jessen graduated magna cum laude in 1996 from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. From 1994 to 1995, Mr. Jessen studied at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford University. In 2017, Mr. Jessen served as a Lecturer at the University of California, Irvine School of Law, where he taught the Cyber Victims Defense Clinic.

Evan McAlpine, Intellectual Property Counsel, Relativity
Evan McAlpine is Intellectual Property Counsel for Relativity. He sets and implements the company’s IP strategy, manages open source compliance, advises on IP issues in transactions, oversees all IP litigation, and manages the company’s patent and trademark portfolio. Evan earned his Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property Management and Markets from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and his JD from Chicago-Kent College of Law.
Katherine McDaniel, Senior Litigation Counsel, T-Mobile
Katherine is a Senior Corporate Counsel at T-Mobile where she handles a diverse portfolio of commercial litigation, regulatory inquires, and advisory matters. Much of her work is focused on data security and privacy-related issues. Prior to joining T-Mobile in September 2016, Katherine spent a combined eight years in private practice working for two international law firms in New York, where she concentrated her practice on the representation of public and private companies, financial institutions, and corporate executives and individuals involved in high-stakes commercial litigation matters. Katherine holds a J.D. from Yale Law School and two B.A.s from the University of Washington in Philosophy and Intellectual History. Katherine has also been the recipient of several awards for her dedication to pro bono work.
Klinton Miyao, Assistant General Counsel & Head of Litigation, Sunrun Inc.
Klinton S. Miyao, Assistant General Counsel and Head of Litigation at Sunrun Inc., leads the litigation function at Sunrun, where he has been since 2015. His responsibilities include consumer and employment issues, commercial disputes, government investigations, licensing and permitting, eDiscovery, class actions, and regulatory issues. Prior to joining Sunrun, Mr. Miyao was an attorney at an international law firm, and prior to law school, held positions at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and The Capital Group Companies. Mr. Miyao has a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
Alicia Moore, Chief Legal and Administration Officer, SVP, General Counsel & Secretary, Echelon
Ms. Moore has extensive experience and notable successes serving as inside and outside General Counsel at public and private technology companies and non-profit foundations. She currently serves as the SVP, Chief Legal and Administration Officer & Secretary of Echelon Corporation, where she is responsible for leading the legal, HR and investor relations functions world-wide. During her tenure, Ms. Moore managed the sale of the Company’s Grid Modernization business to a foreign public entity; the purchase and integration of a lighting controls business; and she implemented processes for the Board and management to comply with domestic and international regulations. Prior to her role at Echelon, Ms. Moore provided independent strategic legal and business development advice to a number of public and privately held clients, with a focus on intellectual property, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint development and marketing, and negotiating and closing key transactions. Prior to that, Ms. Moore served as VP Business Development, General Counsel & Secretary for Extreme Networks. Roberta L. Steele is the Regional Attorney for the San Francisco District Office of the Equal Opportunity Commission(EEOC). She is responsible for the agency’s litigation program to enforce the federal anti-discrimination laws in Northern California and Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. Before joining the EEOC, Ms. Steele was a partner at the law firm then known as Goldstein, Demchak, Baller, Borgen & Dardarian (Oakland, CA), where she spent 17 years litigating plaintiffs’ employment discrimination and wage and hour class and collective actions nationally. She also served as the Program Director for the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) for two years directing the organization’s broad range of continuing legal education and advocacy initiatives, including NELA’s Amicus and Judicial Nominations Programs. West has more than 20 years of experience in the public and private sectors. Prior to joining PepsiCo, West was twice confirmed by the Senate to serve as a senior official in the Obama Administration. From 2012 to 2014, West was the Associate Attorney General of the United States, the U.S. Department of Justice’s third-‐ranking official, where he supervised many of the Department’s divisions, including the Civil Rights, Antitrust, Tax, Environment and Natural Resources, and Civil Divisions, as well as the Office of Justice Programs, the Office on Violence Against Women, and the Community Oriented Policing Services Office. As Associate Attorney General, West pursued several financial institutions for their roles in precipitating the 2009 financial crisis, securing nearly $37 billion in fines and restitution for Americans who were harmed.
From 2009 to 2012, West was the Assistant Attorney General of the Civil Division, the largest litigating division of the Justice Department. As Assistant Attorney General, West led the Justice Department’s review of the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), advocating strongly and successfully that the Department abandon its long-‐standing defense of the statute because the law was unconstitutional.
When West left the Obama Administration in 2014, Attorney General Eric Holder presented him with the Edmund J. Randolph Award, the Department of Justice’s highest honor.
